So, we reach the end of the road for Vivienne and Ignatius. After the traumatic events of last chapter, Vivienne tries moving on, but has one last encounter with the mysterious cabal in the shadows of London. The next day was broiling, roasting, as if the sun sought vengeance for some wrong it had suffered.Continue reading “Resurgam: Chapter 8 and Epilogue”

Guest Blog by Peat Long: Let the Truth Lie
My name’s Peat and Dan’s asked me to write a post for him while he goes skiving off to the wilderness with his family. I gladly agreed as it seemed the ideal opportunity to give a response to a post Dan did a little back called “A Reason to Write – Wrestling With the Truth“.Continue reading “Guest Blog by Peat Long: Let the Truth Lie”
Literature Long Read: The Female (And Male) Myth in Beauty And The Beast
One of the advantages of having daughters is that one becomes extremely well-versed in the canon of Disney movies, and particularly Disney Princess flicks. As a cornerstone of modern culture, this is no bad thing (though upon watching Frozen for the forty-seventh time this assertion does buckle somewhat), and the fact that many of theContinue reading “Literature Long Read: The Female (And Male) Myth in Beauty And The Beast”
The Organisation Of Thoughts
In resurrecting this blog I’ve managed to get down a few thoughts I’ve been having recently about writing, and about what I want to get out of my writing. And in returning to the blog I found that this site is a very useful means of doing that, and that the function of the blog,Continue reading “The Organisation Of Thoughts”
Literature Long read: Drowned Books
At the end of my as-yet unpublished novel The Green Man there is a sort scene that echoes one of Prospero’s final lines from The Tempest, “I’ll drown my book.” Prospero (and the character from TGM) realises that investigative rationality (symbolised by his book), and the ability to control aspects of the world with theContinue reading “Literature Long read: Drowned Books”
A Reason to Write – Wrestling With the Truth
The truth is a tricky thing to pin down. It’s a bit like water. It’s sticky, it’s slippery, and it’s fluid, refusing to conform to, or remain in, any one shape. You can immerse yourself in it, but you can also drown in it. And if you stand at the edge of the ocean, itContinue reading “A Reason to Write – Wrestling With the Truth”
Rejection Doesn’t Define You
How many people reading this have submitted a novel manuscript to a literary agent? More to the point I wonder how many people have received rejections? In fact, scrap that. Forget about writing and submitting manuscripts to an agent. How many people have been rejected for anything, ever? A job, a business proposal, a grant,Continue reading “Rejection Doesn’t Define You”
End of Week Ramblings
After the announcement that the Man O’War Bookstream has been delayed because of Covid, I have a couple of further updates. Being hit by Covid has bungled up the schedules of Alessandro Babalola, who was set to play Adem, and Boo Golding, who was due to play Nita, so they’ve sadly had to pull out.
Man O’War Bookstream Delayed
I got word this week that the Man O’War Bookstream, which was due to begin streaming on Monday, is going to be postponed by at least a week after (drum roll…..) Covid has struck one of the actors in the production. Bravo, Covid, now you’re striking against the people who are innovating ways to getContinue reading “Man O’War Bookstream Delayed”
News Roundup…
Following the news that episode 1 of the Man O’War Bookstream is scheduled for November 23rd, quite a bit has been happening lately.
