My new novel The Green Man is finally out and available to buy at all good bookshops.
It’s a book that’s been a long time coming; I started it in 2017, and since then it’s gone through over ten iterations, a lost manuscript, a period where I gave up on it (during which time I wrote The Hole In The Sky) and then Covid, where I found the time to re-find the lost manuscript and put it all back together again.
I sold it to the indie press Envelope Books after meeting their reps at the London Book Fair, and once a contract was signed, the editor and MD Stephen Games and I set about going through yet more rounds of revisions, cover designs and redesigns, until we reached the beautiful final version that’s available to buy now.
The story is, ostensibly, a straightforward medieval-set murder mystery, about a series of children going missing in the northern English town of Berwick Upon Tweed in the year 1367. But as I began the story I found myself using it to explore more mysterious questions about faith, the power and limitations of science and reason, about the mysteries of the world and the human heart, and even what is the real nature of God?
I’m hoping that people will find something in it for them, whether they want a straight forward mystery story, or something that goes to the heart of what it means to be human.
The Green Man is available to buy everywhere now (links below).
I will also be doing giveaways of signed copies of The Green Man in the coming days on social media. So follow me on the following platforms to be in with a chance:
