Chronscast Episode 26

The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy is one of those rare cult texts that someone, against all received wisdom, somehow transcends the limits of its nerdy little corner of the subculture and breaks free to permeate the culture at large, unfettered by things like common sense or style.
Sadly, the inspired Doug Adams, who wrote the original trilogy of five books, passed away much too early. We at Chronscast were lucky enough to speak with one of his friends and contemporares, the writer Richard Sparks.
Richard spent the late 1970s and early 1980s bobbing around the London alternative comedy scene, writing for people like Rowan Atkinson, the Goodies, and collaborating with Mel Smith, Griff Rhys Jones, John Lloyd, Ben Elton and the like. He joined us to tell us what he loves about Hitchhiker’s Guide, but also to reminisce about those halcyon days, and regales us with an anecdote (or ten) about Doug Adams and all his old mates.
Don’t Panic!
